PRELIMINARY TASK

CATHERINE MORIARTY

In order to complete our preliminary task my group had to create a short video whereby a person had to be seen entering a door, a close up of the opening of the door, walking through the door and another person's reaction to them entering. In our video we chose to create the setting of a job interview in which dialogue was exchanged between Seth and I.

WWW:

-Shot reverse shot-
This shot that views the action from the opposite side of the previous shot, as during a conversation between two actors, giving the effect of looking from one actor to the other. For example, in this task there is a shot of the interviewer asking questions and a shot of the interviewee answering his questions, however, it is fluid and the transitions are fast which makes it seem realistic.

-Opening the door-
For the opening of the door we effectively took many shots from different angles. For example, the beginning shot was a close up of my face which conveyed my emotions which then led onto the close up of my hand on the door handle. To conclude there was a medium shot whereby I walked into the room.

EBI:
In order to make our preliminary task look more presentable we should have aimed to fit the whole of Seth's upper body in this shot as it seems un- professional and we are unable to see his face, meaning the audience cannot see his full reaction to the opening of the door.
